Application: F12-150 Bent-axis Pump


     A liquid ring vacuum pump needed to be driven on a prototype truck. The customer was looking for the least expensive and simplest solution to transmit 200 horsepower. After investigating all of his options, he settled on a hydraulic drive, using Parker’s F12-150 pump. The input shaft’s heavy duty roller bearings permits substantial external axial and radial shaft loads. So, he was able to mount this pump on the front bumper of the truck and rotate it directly from the engine with a drive shaft and clutch. This gave him 80 GPM when the engine was revolving at 2100 RPM and with a continuous operating pressure of 5,000 PSI, the energy needed was available. To further simplify the application, this pump and hydraulic motor were configured in a closed loop. Thanks to the use of Parker’s “BLA 6” boost unit, no charge pump was required.
